ARTEFACT —
— ARTEFACT in words

Sand. As far as the eye can see, dune upon dune upon dune. How long had they been traveling, one foot in front of the other slipping, sinking with each step into the hot sand? In the sea of soft curves, an angle appears. They hike toward the form, up the slope of a dune, somehow uncertain of their own eyes. The shape is there, they stand above it now. The color of sand, but of some other material. Buried there gust by gust as the wind unfurls the sand across its own surface. Digging their fingers again and again along its edges, they begin to uncover the form. An ancient form, a strange form. Sand pours from vertical openings along its angular faces. A gathering of three pyramids. An artifact emerges from the sands of time.
What message does it carry?
Whose hands have cradled it next? Whose hands will it meet before?
In what time are we?
Sinking in to the hot sand.

Stoneware
Hand sculpted
Each piece is signed and numbered on /30
I'll make a "collection" of 30 pieces over time. The sculpture on the picture is the intention. Each piece that I’ll sculpt will be unique with its own personality and marks.
I like this process because it makes me come back to the shape. Each time, is a new exploration of the shape. The occasion to look at it with new eyes. To see, feel and understand it more acutely while sculpting it. The gestures, the emotions, the time, the intention, the energy are all parts of me that become part of the piece.
ARTEFACT is a standing sculpture.
It can also live on the wall just like the sculpture ARTEFACT— on the wall with an opening on the back.
Dimensions vary a bit.
Dimensions of the piece pictured here for reference:

Width: 15 cm
